Trail to Eagle - A comprehensive guide for Life scouts on their trail to the Rank of Eagle Scout
How does a parent find out where a scout is in his rank advancement? This is an important part of a scout's growth in our program. Each scout is responsible for recording their progress in the scout handbook. There is always an advancement report available on the bulletin board in the Scout Hut. Also, the responsibility lies on each scout to ask for help and information from a scout leader during meetings. Please support your scout in this "life skill" learning practice.
What is the EDGE Method? (Explain, Demonstrate, Guide & Enable) The Scout Handbook clearly explains the Rank Requirements for the EDGE Method needed. In order to "pass off" this requirement, each scout must choose their listed requirement, study and practice with another scout or scouts. When ready, it is the responsibility of the scout to request, from a leader, an opportunity, during a camping trip, to demonstrate their understanding of this requirement.
What is the age range for joining Boy Scouts? Youth can join a Scout troop who have earned the Arrow of Light rank and are at least 10 years old, or have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10, or who are 11, but not yet 18 years old.
Is Scouting safe? Yes. Programs are designed to follow a strict set of rules and policies that can be found in the Guide to Safe Scouting. Every registered adult in Scouting is required to complete a Youth Protection training course and a criminal background check. For more information, visit the Youth Protection page.
